It's all about the marketing..

So, I admit it, I love watching random shows that have nothing to do anything specific.
We, as the viewers and consumers, are completely sucked in by shows that are appealing and marketed well. Shows that are pure entertainment, such as "America's Funniest Home Videos" or "Grey's Anatomy" have no, or little relevance to us. Personally, I enjoy searching through youtube and watching videos of my interest. Mainly, I find that the way attention grabbing shows, that involve any sort of event, are marketed very well, and are often endorsed by a popular celebrity, catching the attention of us viewers even more. Cruel as it may sound, watching other people's humiliation is eye catching to us. Hey, as long as it isn't happening to us, watching other people yell at one another on "Jerry Springer" or eat worms on "Survivor" grabs our attention. Mindless as it may seem, you can't help but glue your eyes to the screen and watch the rest of that half hour. Watching reality or pointless shows on the tube often makes us forget the reality around us.
I find most shows that I may watch on TV, or search on youtube, are just interesting and appealing to me, whether or not they're about something totally insignificant.
